OIPI was founded in 2018 in Turin by a group of students and young professionals who believed Italian international politics needed an independent voice - not tied to parties, foundations or factions. Eight years later, we are a network of analysts, researchers and contributors across six thematic desks.
There is another body, also called Osservatorio di Politica Internazionale, founded in 2008 by the Italian Parliament and Foreign Ministry with IAI, ISPI and CeSPI. OIPI is not that body. We are an independent association founded ten years later, with our own mission and governance.
Make international politics understandable and relevant to a new generation - translating global complexity into clear, rigorous, independent analysis.
A young Italy that is informed and internationally curious, taking part in the conversations shaping the world instead of being shaped by them.
Founded in Turin. First desk: Euro-Mediterranean.
